Parsons Collection

Dr. Willard Parsons, a Mississippi native trained in surgery at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, established a surgical practice in Vicksburg in the 1920s. Over a three-decade career, Dr. Parsons made significant contributions through direct surgical care and his role in developing hospital facilities in Vicksburg, including the Street Clinic and the former Vicksburg Hospital, and in establishing the first accredited surgical training program in the state.
